Press release

The greatest success of every edition of The Nigah QueerFest (NQF) is that it is entirely supported and sustained by the contributions of queer and queer-friendly individuals. In our fifth year, we reach out to you once again to continue this tradition and to re-affirm that it is possible for a community to come together, create, and sustain its own festival.

At the NQF fund raising party on 14th October 2011, we managed to raise almost Rs. 46,000 and we thank everyone who partied and helped us raise this money, which will help cover some initial venue-related payments.

However, we are still short of money! Therefore Individual financial contributions, no matter what their size, are welcome. The budget heads below give you an idea of specific costs and needs for the festival

– Venue hiring & equipment for film screenings and workshop: Rs. 55,000
– Photo exhibit: printing, mounting and display: Rs. 50,000
– Setup for the performance night: Rs. 30,000
– Printing collateral & publicity: Rs. 10,000
– Travel grants (we offer return train fare, sleeper class, for those outside Delhi who want to attend but cannot afford to come): Rs. 15,000
– Miscellaneous: Rs. 10,000
Total estimated costs: Rs. 1,70,000
