OUTAuction In New York

For 25 years, GLAAD has worked with news, entertainment and social media to bring culture-changing stories of LGBT people into millions of homes and workplaces every day. GLAAD organises an anual auction, the OUTAuction. On November 20, 2011, 5pm the OUTAuction will be held at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street,New York, NY, USA.

OUTAuction features GLAAD’s top 100 artists. I have looked at the programme of the OUTAuction. It features established and emerging artists. More more male artists than queer women artists. Out artist Kalliope Armorphous is one of the emrging queer artists, who has been selected for the auction this year.

Kalliope Amorphous is a model and visual artist best known for her work in conceptual selfportraiture. Described as a “Jill Of All Trades” by Dazed And Confused magazine, Amorphous is the model, stylist and photographer of all of her images. Using her own image as the protagonist of her stories, Kalliope explores archetype, myth, gender, emotion and identity. She has an artistic desire to work with concepts involving the subconscious, alienation, isolation, time, memory and transcendence. Her photographs have been published and exhibited throughout the United States and internationally.

The auction programme with a full list of the artists can be downloaded from Glaad.org.
