Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow has a social justice exhibition every other year. This year the topic is lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex and transgender life. The exhibition sh[OUT] will both celebrate and raise awareness of LGBT people, their rights and history.<\/p>\n
Artists represented are: Patricia Cronin, Nan Goldin, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Sunil Gupta, David Hockney, Holly Johnson, Deborah Kass, Ins A Kromminga, Sadie Lee, Chad McCail, Robert Mapplethorpe, Catherine Opie, Grayson Perry, Pierre et Gilles, Jack Pierson, Lizzie Rowe, Diane Torr, and Del LaGrace Volcano.<\/p>\n
Glasgowmuseums.com writes on their webpage: “Please note: the sh[OUT] exhibition contains some sexually explicit artworks.” – so now I have warned you too!<\/p>\n
The exhibition, which opened in April, ends on Sunday November 1, 2009. A catalogue to accompany the exhibition is be available from GoMA.<\/p>\n

\nDel LaGrace Volcano is considered one of the pioneers of queer photography and has published five books of work including Love Bites and Femmes of Power.
\nThis talk will include a discussion about the work Herm Torso, currently on show in the sh[OUT] exhibition, and the trans culture in general.<\/p>\n
October 15, 2009, 6pm to 7.30pm, at GoMA
\nJoin Glasgow based authors Zoe Strachan and Louise Welsh along with London based sh[out] artist Sadie Lee for a panel discussion on the topic of LGBTI in Art and Literature.
\nThis session will be chaired by Sean McGlashan, curator of the sh[OUT] exhibition.<\/p>\n
October 22, 2009, 6pm to 8pm, at GoMA
\nA talk and performance from internationally renowned performance artist Diane Torr, who features in the sh[OUT] exhibition. Among other investigations, she is a pioneer of drag king culture, and co-author with Professor Steve Bottoms of the forthcoming book Performing Masculinity.<\/p>\n
