\nKarin Spanik: \u201cMy subjects are varied, but I do tend to write about matters of technology, health and bodies. For one of my books, Aan hartstocht geen gebrek (\u201cPassionate imperfections\u201d), that was made together with photographer Gon Buurman and that deals with disabilities and sexuality, I was awarded the Mary Zeldenrust-Noordanus prize in 1993 for the gentle way in which we broached a higly taboo subject.\u201d
