Perry Curator of Greek and Roman Art at TMA and currently the Curator of Greek and Roman Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Moderated by Dr. Branko van Oppen, Consulting Curator of Ancient Art at the Tampa Museum of Art, this conversation will explore the inspiration and creation of Cronin\u2019s monumental sculpture of the goddess of love and beauty.&#8217; &#8211; Tampa Museum of Art<\/p>\n<h2>Patricia Cronin<\/h2>\n<p>&#8216;is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist whose paintings, sculptures and public art examines issues of gender, sexuality and social justice. Cronin\u2019s work has been exhibited widely in the U.S. and internationally, including <em>Shrine For Girls<\/em> at the 56th Venice Biennale that then traveled to The FLAG Art Foundation, New York and the LAB Gallery, Dublin, Ireland. Other solo exhibitions were presented at the American Academy in Rome, Rome, Italy; Capitoline Museum\u2019s Centrale Montemartini Museum, Rome, Italy; Newcomb Art Museum, New Orleans, LA; Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; and most recently at the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, FL where she was the inaugural artist in their bi-annual \u201cConversations with the Collection\u201d series where they invite a contemporary artist to respond to their Antiquities Collection. Cronin is the recipient of numerous awards including: the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, Anonymous Was A Woman Award, and Civitella Ranieri Fellowship. Her work is in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art and Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, both in Washington, DC; and Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum, Glasgow, Scotland, Perez Art Museum Miami, FL, and Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, FL, among others.
