Allyson Mitchell, is a maximalist artist working predominantly in sculpture, installation and film. Mitchell has been melding feminism and pop culture to play with contemporary ideas about sexuality, autobiography, and the body, largely through the use of reclaimed textile and abandoned crafts. In this video she gives a brief introduction to her big Lady Sasquatch installation, an artwork, which I have mentioned earlier\u00a0at this art blog.<\/p>\n

In this video Allyson talks Irma Villafuerte about Deep Lez, an art projects in which she reclaims old but still usefull lesbian politics, and Brain Child, which consists of over 100 ceramic figurines of rosy-cheeked, round-eyed girls wearing oversized bonnets.<\/p>\n
