Grace By Tina Fiveash<\/em><\/p>\n

Australian photo artist, Tina Fiveash, investigates the intersections of photography and cinema in her new series, \u201cGrace\u201d, on show at Kudos Gallery in Paddington, Sydney, from 23 February to 5 March 2011. (…)<\/p>\n

Exploring the thematic of dream, memory and emotion, the series delves deeply into the complexity of human emotions and feelings evoked by dreams, via the interplay of simulated motion, imagery, and sensory perception.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace\u201d represents the artist\u2019s shift into video art and animated lenticular photography: a technologically complex and rarely used medium, which produces an illusion of animation on a flat photograph. Viewers of the works are enabled the freedom to infinitely rewind, replay and\/or pause to reflect on all they are seeing\/perceiving by controlling the angle and pace in which they interact with the large-scale works.<\/p>\n

Imbued with mood, melancholy and mysticism, the series was inspired by emotionally evocative dreams of flying the artist has experienced throughout her life. In Fiveash\u2019s words<\/p>\n

\u201cSince I was a child I have experienced vivid dreams that I can fly. These dreams are accompanied by the most divine, heavenly feeling: a type of mystical or spiritual sensation, which lingers within my emotional\/sensory memory for days. This series attempts to express and share something of this deeply complex presence, which defies definition by spoken or written language.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Powerfully moving, evocative and enchanting, Grace is an exhibition to be felt and experienced, which like the flying dream, is sure to linger within your memory for days.<\/p>\n
