“Since early May Deirdre Logue (Toronto, ON) has immersed herself in Victoria\u2019s\u00a0springtime energy, inhabiting a summer residency studio at Open Space. She has\u00a0completed a major new video installation entitled Id\u2019s Its.(…)<\/p>\n

Following on the previous success of Enlightened Nonsense (1997-2000), and\u00a0Why Always Instead of Just Sometimes (2003-2006), Id\u2019s Its showcases Logue\u2019s\u00a0recent experimental self-portraits that continue her ongoing exploration into the\u00a0psychological and physiological space of the self in contemporary art. Visitors to\u00a0the exhibition will encounter an immersive and visually intense terrain. \u00a0(…)<\/p>\n

Leaning lightly on Freud\u2019s somewhat archaic concept of the Id and heavily on\u00a0performance for the camera, my new work explores the richness of our malfunctions,\u00a0psychic unrest, the power of the abject and our tendencies towards self-destruction.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
