Barbara Gross Gallerie in Munich, Germany is the second solo exhibition of Indian artist Tejal Shah. Titled Between the Waves, the video and installation project premiered at dOCUMENTA art festival last year under the curatorial rubric of Collapse and Recovery of artistic director Carolyn Christov Bakargiev. Between the Waves<\/em> runs through June 22, 2013.<\/p>\n

Tejal Shah examines phenomena of cultural and biological diversity. She regards deviance as an integral part of nature. Exuberance and difference are, for her, the \u201csource and essence of all life, which all other patterns follow.”<\/p>\n

Working across diverse media such as video, photography, performance, sound, installation, and drawing, Tejal Shah<\/a> positions her work within a feminist and queer framework. She is currently interested in the intersections of art, ecology and healing in relation to consciousness. Her works also focus on topics of sex, sexuality, body, gender and natureculture while challenging normative social hegemonies. Her latest project,\u00a0The Balc\u00e3o<\/em>, is unraveling a new thread in her praxis. It\u2019s a shape shifting, collaborative and community experiment in embodied learning on a small piece of land in Goa, India.<\/p>\n
