Feminine Moments' newsletter - August 2019Edited by Birthe Havmoeller
|
Dear Reader, The retrospective Harmony Hammond: Materia, Witness, Five Decades of Art, March 3 to September 15, 2019 at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Connecticut, USA is The New York Times critic Holland Cotter's pick. He writes: at 75, the trailblazing artist, feminist and author of “Lesbian Art in America” finally gets a museum survey, and it shines. Unfortunately, one has to be a subscriber to read his review of Harmony Hammond's latest exhibition or live near Conneticut to see it. However, a full-color scholarly publication, Harmony Hammond: Material Witness: Five Decades of Art by Amy Smith-Stewart (Gregory R. Miller, 2019), is available during the exhibition. This book is the first hardcover monograph of Hammond’s work. And a new exhibition (see below) with Harmony Hammond's textured canvases will open in London on September 11, 2019.
