Dear Reader,
The pandemic and lockdown has taught us to use Zoom. The popularity of the easy-to-use Zoom, live chat and conferencing app has skyrocketed. In the beginning of lockdown, spring 2020, I was looking for online presentations with queer women artists for you to join on Zoom. Now I know that there probably were not that many even though many pride festivals went online this summer.
Now, as we are coming out of lockdown or bracing ourselves for local lockdowns this winter, I am sharing some zoom video conversations and presentations with American artists which was recorded earlier this year. They are talking about 'art in lockdown'.
I am based in Denmark/Europe and I hope to highlight pieces of news about art projects made by queer women artists in Europe in every newsletters. Researching queer feminist art in Europe is somewhat more difficult than researching American queer feminist artists; the American artists are more visible and there is not just one official language here, but 24 are spoken in Europe. The language barriers limit the knowledge I have about the queer feminist artist communities in Europe. Today, I send a smile and my thanks to Danish artist Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen for sending me a press release in English about her exhibition 'STILL for PEACE'.
