Holly Hughes
is a performance artist and writer whose books, plays and performance pieces address questions of sexuality and identity with a trademark blend of humor, provocation and lyricism. She is a professor of art and design as well as theater and drama at the University of Michigan School of Art & Design and known as one of the four artists who sued the State when their National Endowment for the Arts was taken away in 1990.
