Three of Swedish artist and queer woman Line Skywalker Karlström’s performance videos has been selected for the archive and Re.Act.Feminism #2 touring exhibition. Line is based in Denmark and uses different locations in the countryside for her performances. Her videos are:

Queens Deers (2004) – a Beckett’s crash course on feminist art history, performed by an unsuccesful elk for an audience of absent deers.

Screaming Mountains (2007) – documents the last performance made by the group of High Heel Sisters. See photo below.

To Dance a Prison / At Danse Et Fængsel (2010)  - is a semi improvised dance at the (building) site of a future prison and a physical ritual meditation about dominance, transformation and restriction. See the video above.

Line Skywalker Karlström Performance: Queens Deers

Line Skywalker Karlström, Performance, 2004 Published at Youtube by MrLineskywalkerful, 11/09/2009

Feminist performance artist and queer woman Line Skywalker Karlström (Sweden/Denmark) is blurring the boundaries between humans and animals in this performance from 2004. Line descibes her performance, as one in which she “appears as a somewhat deranged elk, running around in the forest and summoning the animals living there. She [the elk/the artist] would like to give them a lecture about feminist artists like Yoko Ono and Meret Oppenheim. “Hoho! Hello The Queens deers, I’d like to tell you about all the great women artists. I’d like to tell you about Yoko Ono. Hoho, come!” ”

Blurring The Bounderies Between Human And Animal

Ich Tier! (Du Mensch) – Du Tier! (Ich Mensch) is a thematic group exhibition spanning, between two art spaces lying in proximity of each other – Perla-Mode and Dienstgebäude in Zurich, Austria, – a bridge between two worlds: the animal and the human world.
“The participating artists demonstrate a special interest in the moments of shade and silence in which the categorizing boundaries between human and animal are blurred. Their works of art are saturated with intensities, drawing on a range of art devices derived from reality and action, narrative and criticism, wisdom, rituals, phantasmagorias, science, feelings or passions, exoticism all the way to banal everyday observations.”
