Sadie Benning is a lesbian filmmaker and visual artist. Carnegie Museum of Art writes, ‘Sadie Benning’s recent foray into abstract painting is represented here [at the 2013 Carnegie International] by the new work Locating Centers. Based on drawings the artist made on the iPhone, blown up in scale, hand-cut, and painted, the 40 paintings meditate on the relationships between analogue and digital processes.’
