GLITCH Film Festival

GLITCH Film Festival 2015, March 19 – 28, 2015 in Scotland features among other a series of Queer, Trans, Intersex People of Colour short film programmes – The QTIPoC Shorts – at the Centre for Contemporary Art Glasgow, Scotland. The festival is organised by Digital Desparados.

The Worlds of Bernice Bing

Riding the waves of American History, The Worlds of Bernice Bing explores the life, activism and art of this Abstract Expressionist painter, Beat-era existentialist, Bhuddist, feminist, activist, and Chinese-American lesbian. This poignant documentary is a lush tribute to Bernice Bing, the little known foremother of Asian-American avant garde art.

The panel discussion

is on how being a queer and/or trans and/or intersex person of colour inter-relates with surviving and thriving creatively. Panel: Maki Yamazaki, Raju Rage, Raisa Kabir, and Rosie Lewis. Chaired by Zou Zhou.

About Digital Desperados

Digital Desperados are a Glasgow (Scotland) based group running free filmmaking courses for women (trans welcome) of colour where each participant makes their own short film. The group also host free public film screenings of films that are by or about people of colour, often with a Q&A with the filmmakers/a panelwhich are open to all.
