‘INSIDE OUT: Celebrating Who We Are’ with Valerie Mason John
Exposure Festival is also seeking participants for ‘INSIDE OUT Celebrating who we are’, an all-day intensive workshop Friday November 20, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. lead by international artist and facilitator Valerie Mason John (AKA Queenie). This is a unique opportunity for visible minority queers to explore their identities in a creative and dynamic way. We will be working with spoken word, performance art, theatre, poetry, reading out aloud – come tell your stories in whatever feels comfortable for you. It will be a time to be unapologetically yourself, to not have to compromise who you are.
While the all day intensive process will be an event in of itself, part of the experience will also be an evening presentation of the work to an Exposure audience. All workshop participants will be required to be part of the evening sharing, some behind the scenes, while others will be in the spotlight.
The price for participants is $10 (scholarships available). Food will be provided. There will be a pre-workshop orientation (mandatory) on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, from 7 p.m. to 8p.m. Space is limited. To enroll or for questions, email Ted Kerr at email@example.com.
