Ambrosia Tønnesen (1859-1948) A Butch Sculptor

Norwegian art historian Jorunn Veiteberg has written a biography about Norwegian artist Ambrosia Tønnesen (1859-1948). Ambrosia studied art in Berlin and later she lived and worked as a sculptor in Paris for more than 20 years. She had talent and was a successful artist. On one the photos of her I see a young butch woman, who kept her hair short and Jorunn Veiteland says that Ambrosia lived together with Mary Banks (an English woman) for 33 years.
