Hannah Höch (1889 – 1978)

was a German Dada artist. She studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Charlottenburg and at School of the Royal Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin. In 1919 she became a member of the Dada movement.

Hannah is best known for her photomontages, but she was also a painter. She was one of the pioners of the artform of photomontages/decoupages. Her works were so controversial that she had to hide them durring the World War II and in post-war Berlin she continued pursuing an international career with her photomontages until her death in 1978.
