FLUID – FLINTA Artists Interpret the Self

Press release by the curators

Post Image: Joline Kwakkenbos, Looking At The World, 2025, oil on canvas, 195 x 140 cm

We are thrilled to announce FLUID, a groundbreaking exhibition that explores self portraiture and identity through the work of eight exceptional FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary, Trans and Agender) artists:

ANDI, Lulu Bennett, Brogan Bertie, Victoria Cantons, Miranda Forrester, Joline Kwakkenbos, Sadie Lee, Sarah Jane Moon and Poppy Tingay.

Bringing together a diverse and dynamic group of painters, FLUID celebrates intergenerational dialogue and the expressive power of painting to question who we are and how we see ourselves.

Much of the work in the exhibition has been created especially for this show and has never been seen before. Curated by artists Sarah Jane Moon and Sadie Lee, whose practices are deeply embedded in queer community and representation, FLUID foregrounds perspectives seldom centred in contemporary queer art spaces. Conceived and curated by FLINTA artists themselves, the exhibition offers an unmediated and intimate exploration of identity and selfhood.

FLUID opens in a month’s time at The Artists Gallery, Bankside, and is generously supported by Art Academy London, Madame F Wine, Real Al and Twins Glitter Productions.
