The Project

After moving to Australia, my work caught the eye of two amazing galleries that would like to display my paintings during their yearly LGBTQ festivals. They’d also like me to display my art on cool stuff, which will double as rewards for those who become ‘backers’!

The first is Platform72, a local Sydney exhibition space that is part gallery-part retail. It gives artists a way to connect with local buyers and build community. Platform72’s Director has invited me to display my art and cool stuff in the retail space during the weeks leading up to Mardis Gras (March 2014), an annual LGBT pride parade and festival in Sydney, attended by hundreds of thousands of people from around the globe! We are also exploring participating in public art & ephemeral events and/or displaying work in a solo show at the gallery. In their retail section, Platform72 rents ‘shelf space’ to artists for 12 weeks (to start) with an unlimited amount of change-overs of work. I will pay them a small rental fee with NO commission on sales, 100% back to me.

The second show that I’ve secured is at Gasworks, a not for profit community arts facility located in Melbourne that presents an annual program of events. This includes drama productions, workshops, farmers markets, events and visual art exhibitions. The show is called The Comfort Zone, and will be held from 15 January – 2 February 2014. The exhibit will be part of the full program of Midsumma, Melbourne’s annual LGBTQ Festival!
I hope you enjoy it! Warmest regards,

Kim
