Adopt-a-Painting Project

Kickstarter video: Adopt-a-Painting Project by Kim Leutwyler

Kim Leutwyler:

I create large scale figure paintings of LGBTQ-identified women, most recently focusing on those who have impacted my life in some way. My work toys with the concept of glorification vs. objectification vs. modification. I incorporate various facets of nature in to my work in order to comment on the mutability of life, gender and beauty. I have come to focus on painting as a medium because of its primarily masculine history in the western art canon.

Kim Leutwyler, USA has launched a kickstarter project (see the above video) to raise money for her new queer art project, a series of 12 paintings of queer people to be made and exhibited in Australia.
Kim is a Chicago-based artist who works in a variety of media including painting, installation, ceramics, printmedia, and drawing. She graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Painting and Drawing degree in 2009. Kim’s artwork has been exhibited in multiple galleries throughout the United States, and she is part of a permanent collection at both the Naestved Cultural Center in Denmark, and the Brooklyn Art Library in New York. Kim will be moving to Australia soon.

Update September 19, 2012 - This kickstarter project was succesfully funded and Kim will be sending all of her paintings out to their new owners!
