Blue Movie (Afghanistan) combines large-scale, photo-based works on paper with an immersive video and sound installation. Based on the artist’s experiences as a witness to conflict in Afghanistan, the project draws on texts by Jean Genet to explore the relationship between intimacy and violence, as well as cultural attitudes toward pornography and war.
Jeanne Hilary is a photographer and new-media artist. Her work has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, the Palais de Tokyo and the Musée Carnavalet, Paris, the Museum for Contemporary Photography, Chicago among others, and is included in public and private collections internationally.
