Marlow Moss

Marlow Moss (1889-1958) was the first British constructivist artist, working in painting and sculpture. She studied in London and Paris, and was influenced by Mondrian and Léger. An extremely unconventional woman, Moss lived as a masculine lesbian who created groundbreaking art Lamorna in Cornwall from the age of around 30, until her death in 1958. LGBT friendships was important to her. She knew among others Ethel Sans and Anna Hope Hudson; Florence Wild and Francis Lauring; Maud Hunt Squire and Ethel Mars; Martha Stettler and Alice Dannenberg.
