Studying My Sun Tan

My Sun Tan – Selfportrait in a Rainbow by Birthe Havmoeller, 2011 I visited the interative sculpture ‘Your Rainbow Panorama’ by Olafur Eliasson on the roof of Aros, Aarhus Museum of Modern Art, my local art museum yesterday. It is an amazing experience to walk in a rainbow of coloured light…

Youtube And Nudity

Youtube and nudity doesn’t go well together. I have corresponded with some out and proud artists, who unfortunately can’t share their explicit artworks at Youtube, because it is a family entertainment site.

Men Looking at Feminist Art

Today I have found a couple of videos about an art show titled ‘The Female Gaze: Women Look At Women’ at Cheim & Read, New York 2009.

Birthe Havmoeller: The Story About Feminine Moments

Feminine Moments on Facebook

I have finally come around to making a group on Facebook for lesbian and queer artists and lovers of contemporary art made by out lesbian artists and queer women.

Gender Has Had Its 15 Minutes Of Fame

In the 1990’ies everybody did gender, but now gender as an art themes has had its 15 minutes of fame, and we are back to square one: art made by queer women artists is ignored by the art world. It is a big backslash that the art world isn’t open and curious any more.

To Be A Lesbian Artist Or Not

I often hear that artists don’t like being labelled as belonging to one genre of the arts i.e. being a surrealist, a abstract painter or a lesbian artist, as the label suggests that the artist makes one kind of art only, and a truly creative artist never knows where the inspiration may lead her in her next art project.

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. May life bring you lots of new energy, inspiring projects and new friends in 2010. Love & Blessings, Birthe Havmoeller
