About Mette Wincklemann

Mette Wincklemann is a Danish artist. She studied at 1996 – 97 at Academy of Art and Design, Bratislava, Slovakia and at Royal Academy of fine Arts, Copenhagen, Denmark in 1997 – 2003. Abstract non figurative painting has a central role in her artistic practice, but she also makes textile collages, patchwork quilts and flags. Mette writes in her artist statement: In an abstract work, the materials step forward and become a significant part of the work itself. A good painting is conscious of its own physical properties and of the space around it, and inquires into its own existence. Read the full artist statement of Mette Winckelmann at her website.
