‘Into View: Bernice Bing’ celebrates the Asian Art Museum’s acquisition of 20 paintings and works on paper that shine a light on the lesbian Asian American artist Bernice ‘Bingo’ Bing (1936-1998) who has only recently gained broad recognition for her achievements. The exhibition runs through June 26, 2023.
Video (12:00): The female nude dates back to the very beginning of art, but it remains a contested symbol. American photographer Renée Jacobs speaks to Eve Jackson (France 24) about reclaiming it and using it as a form of queer and feminist activism. Jacobs’ photo books are entitled “Paris” and “Polaroids” and her exhibition “Dreams & Desires” is being shown at the Sinner hotel in Paris through December 11, 2022.
Video (4:01): Cuts in the Day at Camden Art Centre, London through January 15, 2023, is the first institutional exhibition in the UK by Dani and Sheilah ReStack (USA). The exhibition expands and develops the artists’ exploration of queer desire, family, climate crisis, and collaboration. The artist duo discusses their works in the video.
