Chitra Ganesh
Chitra Ganesh (b. 1975, Brooklyn) is an American multidisciplinary artist whose work spans drawing, painting, animation, video, murals, and sculpture. She earned a B.A. in Art-Semiotics and Comparative Literature from Brown University, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and holds an M.F.A. from Columbia University. Drawing on South Asian mythology, comic books, science fiction, and feminist and queer theory, Ganesh creates speculative narratives that center female and queer agency. Her honors include the Guggenheim Fellowship, Anonymous Was a Woman Award, Ford Foundation Artist Grant, and Joan Mitchell Foundation Award. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
